Since it’s come up a couple of times, I figured I’d share a version of Berry that communicates the score of a formation in a very simple way. I personally prefer the published version as a set that I play the game with, but think think is a fun programming exercise that demonstrates how one could go about introducing this kind of intelligence into a Blinks game. Distributed scoring techniques are fun and can likely come in many different flavors. In this case, I am able to get all of the information needed within a local neighborhood. Another fun exercise could be extending this to larger and larger neighborhoods.
